360 Wh/kg Semi-Solid-State Battery Powers First Flight of Low-Altitude Aircraft! SVOLT Accelerates Solid-State Technology Commercialization
From September 11 to 14, the 2025 International Forum on Chinese Automotive Industry Development was held in the Binhai New Area of Tianjin, where Yang Hongxin, Chairman and CEO of SVOLT, was invited to attend the forum. During the session on green solutions, Yang delivered a keynote speech titled “SVOLT’s Evolution and Commercialization of Solid-State Technology”, in which he outlined SVOLT's breakthrough progress in both semi-solid and solid-state batteries. For the first time, he also revealed SVOLT’s globally pioneering “Electrolyte Thermal Composite Transfer Process”, marking a major step forward for SVOLT in the commercialization of next-generation power battery technologies.

Innovative Process Breakthroughs Overcome Semi-Solid-State Mass Production Bottleneck, Optimizing Cost and Compatibility with Existing Production Lines
Yang highlighted that the lithium battery industry is in a three-phase strategic evolution: “deepening existing technologies, tackling medium-term challenges, and breaking through to future innovations.” While strengthening its market leadership in liquid-state battery technology, SVOLT is also aggressively driving forward the development and mass production of both semi-solid and solid-state batteries. He pointed out that semi-solid-state batteries, as a relatively independent and widely applicable technology route, have become a central battleground in the industry.
In semi-solid-state technology, SVOLT’s in-house “Electrolyte Thermal Composite Transfer Process” has successfully overcome several key production challenges. By using a polar liquid formulation and gradient hot-pressing technology, the process efficiently and uniformly transfers the electrolyte layer from separator to electrode, achieving an impressive 95% transfer rate, up from approximately 20% in earlier attempts. This breakthrough not only fully integrates with existing production lines—eliminating the need for additional equipment investment—but also significantly enhances manufacturing precision, yield, and safety, improving HIPOT yield by 10%, reducing pressure difference defects by 6%, and boosting safety performance by 50%.

SVOLT Semi-Solid-State Battery Wins Orders from European Luxury Brands, Offers the First Flight of Low-Altitude Aircraft in This Year
Yang stated that, when combined with high-nickel cathode materials, SVOLT’s process has become the most cost-effective and scalable semi-solid-state battery solution in the industry. SVOLT has built a 2.3 GWh production line dedicated to semi-solid-state batteries, and has completed the development of its first-generation 270 Wh/kg prismatic cells. The trial mass production of C-sample units is slated in November 2025. This product has already secured orders from well-known European EV brands, and is also part of an eVTOL project with a central enterprise. Furthermore, SVOLT is developing a 360 Wh/kg soft-pack semi-solid-state battery for large-scale production, with official samples already sent to a central enterprise in the low-altitude aircraft segment, with the first flight planned for later this year.

Simplifying All-Solid-State Manufacturing Process, Thermal Composite Stacking Technology Overcomes Manufacturing Challenges
In the all-solid-state battery segment, SVOLT has leveraged its deep expertise in stacking process to propose industry-leading manufacturing solutions. The stacked electrode structure ensures even stress distribution, eliminating the common R-angle interface failures seen in winding process, significantly boosting the cycles of all-solid-state batteries. Meanwhile, SVOLT also introduced the “Thermal Composite Stacking” process, integrating transfer, die-cutting, stacking, and static pressing into a single step. This innovation increases production efficiency by 100%, significantly improving the feasibility of large-scale manufacturing for all-solid-state batteries.
In terms of technology, SVOLT has achieved full-stack in-house capabilities, and developed highly air-stable sulfide solid-state electrolytes that maintain over 93% ionic conductivity after 4 hours in high-humidity environments. In addition, SVOLT has also developed all-solid-state-compatible cathode materials with a capacity retention of over 220 mAh/g, capable of stably cycling over 1200 times. SVOLT has successfully produced 20Ah all-solid-state cell samples with an energy density of 380 Wh/kg, and a cycle life exceeding 450 cycles. In fact, SVOLT became the first company in China to develop 20Ah sulfide all-solid-state battery samples back in 2022.

Semi-Solid First, Full-Solid Next: SVOLT Diversifies its Application Strategy
According to its development plan, SVOLT aims to complete the development of a 10Ah, 400Wh/kg all-solid-state battery system by the end of 2025. In 2026, the company plans to ramp up the mass production of the first-generation semi-solid-state battery, while simultaneously working on the second-generation 400Wh/kg semi-solid-state battery. SVOLT plans to launch the third-generation 450Wh/kg semi-solid-state battery in 2028, along with the development of 70Ah+, 500Wh/kg pure solid-state batteries.
Yang Hongxin, CEO of SVOLT, emphasized that SVOLT is committed to a "semi-solid first, full-solid next" commercialization strategy, balancing technological maturity with market acceptance. This approach will gradually drive the commercialization of solid-state battery technology. In addition to the NEV market, SVOLT is also actively expanding into emerging segments such as low-altitude economy and robotics, and has already established collaboration intentions with several automakers and aircraft manufacturers. He pointed out that while all-solid-state batteries hold great potential, their cost remains 5x-10x higher than liquid-state batteries, and mass production still faces challenges in materials, processes, and the supply chain.

Finally, Yang called on the industry to join forces in building a "new ecosystem" for China’s solid-state battery industry, contributing to the global automotive industry’s green transformation with Chinese solutions and Chinese innovations.
By following a semi-solid and full-solid technologies advancement in tandem strategy, SVOLT is demonstrating its strategic commitment to leading the next generation of battery technology transformation, combining efficient implementation with a forward-looking insight. Through these actions, SVOLT is empowering China moving from a “follower” to a “peer”, and even a “leader”, in the global transformation to green energy, injecting robust impetus of Chinese innovations into the development of a sustainable future energy system.
